Collective Noun (समूहवाचक संज्ञा)

Special names have been assigned to some special group of things when they are refered to as one in a collective way, such nouns are called collective nouns.
कुछ व्यक्तियों अथवा वस्तुओं का जिकर एक साथ करने के लिये विशेष नामों का प्रावधान किया गया है. समूह को दिये गये इन विशेष नामों को Collective Noun कहते हैं.

Common Nouns as Collective
The Collective Noun is singular in form that represents a group of persons or things.
समूहवाचक संज्ञा (collective noun) दिखने में तो एकवचन होता है पर कुछ व्यक्तिओं या वस्तुओं के समूह का वर्णन करता है.

audience
collection of people gathered to watch an event or a game.
दर्शकों का समूह जो किसी कार्यक्रम या खेल को देखने इकठा होना.

Proper Nouns as Collective

Name of institutions, organizations, teams and places are often used as collectives to represent all the people there.
कई बार कुछ संस्था, संस्थान, टीम और जगह के नाम का उपयोग एक समूहवाचक शब्द की तरह वहाँ के सभी लोगों का प्रतिनीदित्व करते हैं.
