No sentence can be complete without a verb. The verb gives information about the action being performed or information about the state of a noun or pronoun.
To give a complete picture of the action or state, the proper form of a verb should be used so as to give an indication in relation to time.
We should be able to make out whether the work has been completed, it is presently underway or it will be done after sometime.

किसी वाक्य को verb (वर्ब) के बिना पूरा नहीं माना जाता है. verb ऐसा शब्द या शब्दों का समूह है जो सम्बंधित नाउन या प्रोनाउन के बारे में या उसके द्वारा किये जा रहे किसी कर्या का विवरण करता है. घटना या कार्य का विवरण स्पष्ट और पूरा करने के लिये verb का रूप बदलता है. verb के रूप से चर्चा किये जा रहे कार्य का समय के साथ सम्बंध पता चलता है.
- यह पता चलता है कि वह कार्य अभी चल रहा है या पूरा हो चुका है.
- यह पता चलता है कि वह कार्य या घटना बीत चुके समय की है या आने वाले समय में होगी.

ऊपर के उदाहरण में तीन वाक्य हैं. ये तीनों वाक्य प्रोनाउन (I) के कार्य to walk (चलना) को दर्शाते हैं लेकिन तीनों के रूप अलग-अलग हैं - walk, walked और will walk. तीनों रूप में क्रिया का समय का सन्दर्भ अलग है. walk चालू समय (present - वर्तमान) में चलने की जानकारी देता है, जब की walked बीते समय (past - भूत) में चलने के बारे में और will walk बताता है कि मै आने वाले समय (future - भविष्य) में चलूंगा.
समय चक्र के सम्बंध में verb (क्रिया) के बदलते रूप को Tense (काल) कहते हैं.
Tense के तीन मुख्य वर्ग हैं...
- Present Tense (वर्तमान काल)
- Past Tense (भूत काल)
- Future Tense (भविष्य काल)
Present Tense (वर्तमान काल)The form of verb that indicates a underway or just currently completed action is known as the present tense.Verb का जो रूप वर्तमान समय को सूचित करता है Present Tense कहलाता है.

Past Tense (भूत काल)The form of verb that indicates to an action that had occured in the past is known as the past tense.Verb का जो रूप बीते समय को सूचित करता है Past Tense कहलाता है.

Future Tense (भविष्य काल)Similary, the form of verb that indicates an action that will occur after some time (in the future) is known as the future tense.Verb का जो रूप आने वाले समय को सूचित करता है Future Tense कहलाता है.
I will walk.

This discussion on Tenses cannot be completed without mentioning that each of the tenses are further classified into 4 sub-groups.
